Bertrand de Miollis

Born in 1972, Bertrand de Miollis lives and works in Paris.

He first made himself known to the general public through his travel diaries.

After having followed the courses of the National Superior School of Decorative Arts, he participates since 2002 in many trips on motorbike and on the seas: Tour of Africa by boat, Trans-Chilean on motorbike, Paris-Kabul on motorbike, Tour from Lake Baikal in a sidecar by ice route in particular. In Afghanistan and Iraq he accompanies French troops and

British, taking an artistic and human perspective on the difficult reality of war. His many colorful notebooks are then selected and picked up by the press, publishing and television. His paintings arouse the interest of galleries, several exhibitions reveal his work.

Curious about the great outdoors, Bertrand de Miollis also likes what he defines as "the motionless journey" projecting him towards the discovery of other universes or artistic disciplines. Thus he painted on polo (2008), on lyrical art with the conductor John Eliott Gardiner (2010) or on ballet (twelve months of residence with the dancers of the Paris Opera, 2014) .

Each of his "immersions" gives rise to a personal exhibition.

Attached to traditional techniques (water and oil painting, engraving), he also explored from 2015 the

possibilities offered by the digital medium. As a pioneer, he uses this technological palette as an unprecedented way

to cross several forms of art. Nourished by the motif, his painting seeks to transcend reality through

explosive colors transporting the viewer in a relationship to the world between abstraction and figuration.

Her work as a colorist translates into a tension between sweetness and acidity: pinks, ultramarine blues,

turquoise with tonic vibrations.

He won the 1st Prize for works on paper - Peintres aux Armées (2011) -, the 1st Prize of the Noufflard Foundation - Fondation de France (2012) -, the Eddy Rugale Maichailov Prize (2013).

Bertrand de Miollis is a member of the Taylor Foundation. He was appointed Official Painter of the Navy in 2018.

His works are regularly exhibited in galleries and at trade fairs.
