JEAN-DANIEL BOUVARD

Jean-Daniel Bouvard

JEAN-DANIEL BOUVARD

Originally from Saint-Étienne, Jean-Daniel Bouvard moved to Paris in 1976. Since his early youth, he has always been able to draw. His family environment predestined him for an artistic activity, with a grandmother, a mother and a sister who drew and painted and a cartoonist uncle. After obtaining an architectural diploma, and spending two short years in an architectural firm, he decided in 1986 to make a living from his painting. In 1991, he received the Paul-Louis Weiller Prize from the Academy of Fine Arts, awarded to those under 35.

Marquet, Vuillard, Morandi ... are artists who have influenced him. Traveling painter, he finds his inspiration in Morocco, Spain, France near Bandol and also in Brittany, in Carantec, in the family house where he has been spending his holidays since 1980. He paints landscapes, seascapes with a touch particular inheritance no doubt from his training as an architect. "I do not paint the extraordinary, but I want the visitor's gaze to be calm, to feel a sense of well-being when he contemplates the paintings," says the artist. A figurative painter, he experiences an evolution towards more subjectivity to leave a great freedom of imagination to those who come to discover his works.
